Creating SWEET memories since 1850
The home of the famous Yorkshire Mixture, Joseph Dobson’s is a fascinating story of a family owned business since 1850, which has prospered to become one of the largest family owned confectionery businesses in England.
The company continues to manufacture high quality boiled sweets and lollipops to traditional recipes meeting all the challenges of a 21st century market place but also still maintaining the ‘old fashioned’ tastes and traditions of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Wold Top Brewery was founded in 2003 by arable farmers Tom and Gill Mellor. Based high on the Yorkshire Wolds where the hills roll down to the North Sea, ours is a family business that is run by the third and fourth generation Mellor’s and we pride ourselves on brewing superior quality beer from home grown barley and water that is gently filtered by the chalk of the Yorkshire Wolds and drawn from the farm's own borehole.
We're an artisan cheesemonger and fine food merchant based in West Yorkshire. A family run business headed up by husband & wife team Richard & Clare Holmes. The business started 16 years ago when the couple bought the last Cryer & Stott market stall in Wakefield West Yorkshire.
The market stall sold basic provisions such as milk & cheddar. Richard had big plans for the business with his real passion for local artisan produce. Cryer & Stott's first wholesale customer was actually the hotel where the couple held their wedding reception from there Cryer & Stott
started getting a reputation for supplying the finest quality Yorkshire produce.
Now we support approximately 300 British producers. Supplying independent retailers, gastro pubs, hotels and restaurants across the UK.
Passionate about what we do, we follow our products from milking parlor to plate. Each artisan item we deliver has a CV, giving the retailer, chef or front of house staff knowledge of the product.
Our service doesn't stop at the door. As a business, we're proactive when it comes to offering our clients training and tasting sessions. We understand, for example the workload of the head chef. We can create exciting cheese menus with seasonal availability and local provenance. We offer a consultancy service to new customers regarding product range, systems and procedures for cheese staff training.
After four years of hard work developing menus and creating different concepts, we were selected to supply the cheese and fine food products to two prestigious venues at the London 2012 Olympics. They are Greenwich Park, which will host the equestrian events and Eton Dorney, where the rowing takes place. The products delivered fed staff, athletes, corporate guests, VIPs, Olympic figures and royalty.
At these two venues alone, there were half a million covers served over the duration of the Olympics & Paralympics and 12 tons of cheese used. We also supplied four VIP events at the Olympic Stadium. Again, we designed the cheeseboard menus with as much provenance as possible.
In 2012 we became a supplier to Harvey Nichols. We're now working with their Director of Food in managing the offer on their fresh food counter. We've introduced a range of cheeses, a range of pies.
Our greatest achievement to date is being asked by The British Embassy in Paris to supply a seven-tier cheese stack for a state visit by The Queen. This opportunity arose after Richard & Jemma (Business Development Manager) planned a trip to France sourcing artisan cheese from small producers of twinned towns & cities the
Tour De France route took in Yorkshire.
Our cheese was eaten by the Queen on three occasions during one week in June 2014. It still astounds us to this day!
We've recently appeared on BBC 2's Taste Of Britain with Brian Turner & Janet Street Porter talking about our Rhubarb cheese & pork pies. The duo enjoyed our products so much that they also spoke about our pies on ITV's Loose Women in March 2015.
In October 2015 we were honoured to have been named Yorkshire's best Wholesaler by Yorkshire Post & Deliciouslyorkshire!
Tipple Tails yummy fruit cakes, made in Sheffield by passionate baker Jane Stammers evoke memories of favourite pastimes, friends and family occasions, delicious food, summer afternoons and cosy winter evenings; the smell of cut grass, kicking up autumn leaves, waking up to the smell of baking and coffee in the morning.
The story began when Jane was growing up at home with Mum and Dad, her brother and three sisters. There was always plenty of activity in the kitchen with a big family to feed; lots of home grown fruit made its way into puddings and pies and stood bottled in glistening rows on the marble larder shelves.

The company: Belinda started trialling soups in 2004. Armed with learnt cookery skills from her mother, whilst growing up on her parent’s farm in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, the soups you enjoy today started to come to life! The idea behind all Yorkshire Provender soups is simple: take the best of fresh seasonal British produce and marry ingredients together in a creative way to produce a consistently superior, imaginative and delicious soup. We are a small team, here at Yorkshire Provender who care passionately about making THE MOST DELICIOUS soup (and now porridge)! www.yorkshireprovender.co.uk
Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese is creamy, crumbly & full of flavour. It is protected with European Protected Food Name Status (PGI), and is the only Wensleydale cheese that is actually made in Wensleydale.
Steeped in heritage & provenance, Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese has a history dating back to 1150, when French Cistercian monks settled in Wensleydale and started making cheese. Today, The Wensleydale Creamery proudly continues the art of handcrafting Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese to a time-honoured recipe, using its own cheese-making starter cultures, and milk from over 40 local farms, together with the skills of its master cheese-makers which have been passed down through generations.
Whittaker’s Gin is the trading name of Harrogate Distillery Ltd and is the only distillery in the Harrogate region. Based at their family home Harewell House Farm, Dacre Banks, husband and wife team Toby and Jane Whittaker are producing a growing range of hand-crafted, small batch gins and spirits distilled in a Yorkshire-made still called Jezebel using natural spring water from the heart of Nidderdale.
Rakusen’s has been producing delicious, healthy water crackers since 1900. In fact, we were the first manufacturer in the UK to do so.
Our entire range of crackers is flame-baked to a traditional recipe, giving each bite a unique but subtle nutty flavour.
Over the years, we’ve expanded our range beyond crackers to include biscuits, margarines, meal and soups, while developing our core product out to adapt to the modern snacking market with things like Snackers and Chocolate Snackers. But, while our product range may have changed, our core aim has not. For over a century, we’ve sought to produce great tasting products made with simple ingredients – making them not only delicious, but also incredibly healthy.
This began with our roots as a provider of kosher foods to the Jewish community, but today means we can serve those living a vegan, vegetarian or gluten free lifestyle – or looking for tasty foods which are low in fat, sugar and salt, or free-from dairy, lactose and nuts. Rakusen’s was established in Leeds in 1900 by Lloyd Rakusen, who partnered with Joseph Bonn and Theodore Carr in 1910 to form Bonn Rakusen & Co. Bonn had already established his own company as the country’s first kosher catering firm and in the years that followed the partnership went from strength to strength, with Lloyd bringing his son into the business in 1930 to carry on the family business after his death in 1944.
Who are we?
Handmade Chocolatier, Scarborough
Amelia’s Chocolate is a thriving little shop in Scarborough, run by Amelia Scholey with plenty of help from her enthusiastic staff and unending support from her family, who are always there for her.
Started in her home kitchen in 2011, Amelia spent her days dreaming up chocolates, her evenings making them, and her weekends selling them at craft fairs and farmers markets. By 2013 she was ready to open her very own shop, and now we are a small team dedicated to dreaming, creating and perfecting chocolates that will make you smile.
A clear, golden coloured beer with a noble hop aroma. Made from clear water sources, special malts and excellent hops. A beer with a medium dry taste and a mild barley malted flavour. A lager beer made by the curious for the curious.
Lewis & Cooper
Fine hampers, food & wine since 1899...
For more than a century the Lewis & Cooper name has been associated with hampers, fine foods and wines.
From their bustling store in the quintessential market town of Northallerton, North Yorkshire, Mr Lewis & Mr Cooper built a world-renowned gourmet emporium shipping hampers packed with local delicacies and gastronomic delights far and wide. Today the tradition lives on handed down form generation to generation, to ensure those with a taste for the finest things in life may still acquire a food hamper or gift basket of uncompromising quality.
A family emporium. A family Saga
Lewis & Cooper's founding partners were sticklers for detail (the Managers’ quarters were furnished with a discreet window which enabled Mr Lewis to keep a constant vigil over his shop floor) and insisted on stocking only the finest foods, hampers and wines.
Today, reassuringly little has changed; in large part, perhaps, because Lewis & Cooper remains a family-run concern, with a direct lineage linking the present owners to Mr Lewis himself.
All the way back in 1984, Otley’s Bondgate Bakery started with a great deal of determination and a conviction to bake bread the way it used to be. In those days the Enterprise Allowance Scheme awarded budding entrepreneurs £40 a week to set up their own businesses. So that’s what Steve Taylor did.
It is crucial to us that ingredients are pure and unadulterated and instead of being reliant on mixes and additives, Bondgate has always been about real traditional bread making using locally sourced untreated flours.
Steve, along with his partner, Sally, brought with him a precious selection of family recipes that he learned from his grandmother, a lifelong baker and we still make her Parkin, Christmas Cake Flapjack (we call it Crunch) and Yorkshire Curd Tart.
Bondgate Bakery sells a range of delicious breads and baked goods from its Otley premises and over the years we have developed relationships with a number of retailers and restaurants. We supply a range of Yorkshire clients including Harvey Nichols, Leeds Bradford Airport, Arc Creations and The Tetley in Leeds. You can also find us at Headingley Farmer’s Market on the second Saturday of each month.
We hope you can try our delicious hand made breads and cakes either in any of these places or direct from the Otley shop.
