Travel, Transport & Road Closures

TRAVEL

Crowds are expected to line parts of the route. Follow our top travel tips to make it a day to remember.

  • Plan ahead - Use our interactive map (Stage 1Stage 2 & Stage 3) to choose where you want to watch. Scroll down to plan public transport journeys below.
  • Set off early - Expect your journey to take longer than usual, so give yourself plenty of time to bag the best spot.
  • Keep it simple - The best option might be walking, or of course, getting on your bike!
  • Know your options - have a plan in case your first choice location is busy.

ROAD CLOSURES

To minimise disruption, most road closures will be rolling road closures. This means sections will just be closed for approximately an hour to see the riders move safely through the course.

We won't see road closures anywhere near the same scale or length as 2014's Tour de France Grand Départ.

Some roads for spectator safety and race logistics will need to be closed for longer periods, such as start and finish lines and some climbs and sprints.

Please take a look at the very latest information provided here and via the links to each local authority area. Advice is plan ahead and allow plenty of t‎o get to where you want to be.
