Yorkshire Bank is proud to support cycling in Yorkshire. The Tour de Yorkshire partnership brings together our customers, communities and colleagues. Yorkshire Bank is delighted to be involved with this world-class event for the fourth year running.
Cycling participation is a huge part of the bank’s commitment, specifically through the ground-breaking Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries (YBBLs) initiative.
As part of the legacy of the Tour de France, Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries have been established across the county in a bid to give every child in Yorkshire free access to a bike. Set up by Welcome to Yorkshire and supported by Yorkshire Bank, the scheme has already delivered over 51,000 opportunities to cycle at over 47 bike libraries, using bikes donated by the people of Yorkshire. Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries are delighted to be returning as official partners of the Tour de Yorkshire for a third year. To find your nearest Bike Library or Donation Station, visit www.bikelibraries.co.uk or follow on Twitter @bikelibraries or on Facebook.

Cycling is one of the sports to which, Tissot, the number one Swiss traditional watchmaker in terms of volume and a member of the Swatch Group – the world’s largest watch producer and distributor – is most committed. It has been a sponsor of cycling events for over 50 years, including for the Tour de France from 1988 to 1992. Tissot further enhances its commitment by its association to the International Cycling Union (UCI) in 1995. These sponsorships are a mean for Tissot to attract a wide audience of people who can associate themselves with this sport based on endurance and achievement. Further to this partnership, Tissot becomes Official Timekeeper and Sponsor of the World Championships of road, track, mountain bike, BMX and the World Cup Classics track series as well as the Mountain Bike World Cup. Since 2016, Tissot is proud to be back as Official Timekeeper of the Tour de France, one of the most prestigious road cycling events in the world.
Following on from our involvement in the Grand Départ for the Tour de France in 2014, we are proud to be sponsoring the Women’s Tour de Yorkshire race. Our customers and colleagues have told us that they would love us to take an active role in providing information on the benefits of physical activity and help them live more active lifestyles. So it’s our responsibility as a business to help educate and encourage young people to take part in sport and be active.
As a Yorkshire business we can’t think of a better way to do this than being part of the Women’s Tour de Yorkshire – we know the passion the county has for cycling and it’s exciting to be part of the event. Andy Clarke, Asda President and CEO said: “It’s a privilege to be supporting the Women’s Tour de Yorkshire race and helping to raise the profile of women’s sports. In 2014 Asda was the official partner of the Tour Makers for the Yorkshire Grand Départ, which was a resounding success. We’re incredibly proud of our Yorkshire roots and wanted to remain part of this exciting legacy that works to bring communities together in celebration of an amazing sport set against the backdrop of an unbeatable county.”
We are also excited to work with Welcome to Yorkshire and A.S.O. to make the Asda Women’s Tour de Yorkshire the most valuable women’s cycle race in the world. This will raise the profile of the women’s cyling, and shine the spotlight on Yorkshire, showing the world how we celebrate sport.
Our sponsorship of the race is part of Asda’s ongoing commitment to helping and being part of communities. This covers everything from supporting charities such as Tickled Pink Breast Cancer Care and Tommy’s, and our Asda Active initiative where our colleagues support school sports days and sporting events.
